I’m Jack Uppling, a music teacher with almost a decade of teaching experience, working with all ages. In addition to guitar, I also teach bass, ukulele, and beginner piano.
I’ve been playing guitar for over 15 years. My first instrument was the upright bass; I then started exploring electric bass and took up guitar shortly after. I'm very passionate about music theory, and songwriting is the most important part of music to me. I would love to help people learn to write their own songs in addition to playing guitar.
I’ve written, recorded, and toured with several groups since first learning guitar. Because of the bands I’ve played in, I’ve been able to connect with several students who play and write post-punk and indie rock. Although I’ve mostly played in rock bands, I’ve explored guitar and songwriting across different genres and would feel comfortable helping you learn whatever genre/style you’re passionate about. I have taught students who learned country and hip-hop songs.
I enjoy teaching a large variety of different genres. I’ve studied under multiple working composers and have written, recorded, and mixed my own music.
